Soul Foods Bookstore
Soul Food Books offers a variety of Christian reading materials as well as a slection of Bibles. Although our instock selection is small, we can usually special order titles and have them in a few days. For more information about a specific title please contact Angie in the church office or email her at angie@fumcdurango.org
Volunteer Opportunities
We are always looking for individuals who are interested in serving others within our church and our community. Serving others is part of growing in our individual journeys and helps us appreciate all of the blessings we have in our lives each and every day. ALPHA Workshops (twice a year)
People attend Alpha courses for a wide variety of reasons. Some want to investigate if God exists or if there is any point to life, others may have attended church on and off their whole life but never understood the basics of the Christian faith. Everyone comes with the same objective: to determine whether Jesus Christ has any relevance for their lives. We run the Alpha program twice a year. We are always seeking volunteers within the following areas:
Small Group Leaders, Small Group Helpers, Kitchen coordination and cooking, Room set up and break down, Serving meals, Washing linens, Setting up the tables…

Christ Care Meals
Many times there are people who need a home cooked meal or a meal delivered for a multitude or reasons. If one of your passions is cooking for others please click here to volunteer or call Roger Haney directly at 970-247-4213 ext. 107.
Church Services during Saturday night and/or Sunday morning opportunities.
We have many opportunities for you to serve during our worship times; we need greeters, ushers, Sunday school teachers, youth group helpers and much more. Manna Soup Kitchen
Manna is the Durango Soup Kitchen. The mission statement is, ‘To provide nourishing meals for those who are hungry in the name and spirit of Jesus Christ’. Manna now serves over 40,000 meals and distributes over $40,000 in vouches a year. They have recently added a client computer center and a volunteer Chaplain. The archival volunteer base stands over 1,700 current active, regular base of volunteers is over 300 including individual, church groups, civic and private organizations and local businesses.
- The United Methodist Women serve at the local soup kitchen preparing meals each month on the third Tuesdays. Please show up and help if you are interested. We meet at the soup kitchen (1100 Avenida del Sol, 970-385-5095) at 9:30am. If this date doesn’t work with your schedule the soup kitchen is always seeking volunteers, please feel free to contact them directly as well.
