The Chancel Choir, directed by Susie Bjorklund, is the adult choir that regularly leads music at the 11 a.m. traditional service, except during the summer months. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Sanctuary. The choir presents a wide variety of music for Sunday morning worship, as well as a Christmas cantata in December and a special music presentation in the spring. The Children's Choir welcomes boys and girls from 1st through 6th grade who like to sing. Rehearsals are held Sunday mornings from 8:15 a.m. to 9 a.m. (during the worship time) in the Music Room, with director Kate Uebersax. The choir sings for worship about once a month, alternating between the 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services. Besides working on anthems for these Sundays, the children learn music-reading skills, they present a musical each year, and they enjoy lots of fun and fellowship.  Contact Kate at 247-4213, kate@fumcdurango.org, for more information.

Our handbell choir, the Celebration Ringers, rehearses Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. in the Music Room. They play for worship about once a month, usually at 11 a.m. The choir encourages youth and adults to join as regular ringers or as substitutes. Some music-reading ability is required, but no bell-ringing experience is necessary. Every year a Saturday workshop is held to teach skills to the newer ringers. There are many opportunities for instrumentalists to share their talents during any of the three worship services.
