Christ Care Ministries

Lighthouse
Our Purpose is to be
Jesus Christ to the World

Each of us is called to represent Christ to people who are in need. Christ Care ministries provide personal, one-on-one opportunities to be Christ to others.  Anyone can volunteer, but to lead one of the ministries, you are invited to take our Lay Pastor Certification in Christ Care Ministries.

Hospital Visitors

These volunteers make themselves available on a rotating weekly basis to visit our members who are hospitalized for any reason.

Angels of Mercy

These volunteers meet regularly with shut-ins or nursing home residents to bring them friendship, fun and conversation. They may provide just a listening ear, prayer support, transportation or even an act of kindness.

Meal Prep and Delivery

Sometimes after surgery, the delivery of a new baby, or the loss of a family member, preparing food for the family is a burden. These volunteers bring food to help ease that burden.

Family Visit

Rides to Church

Some of our members who can no longer drive to church appreciate a ride on Sunday morning. Our volunteers pick up people according to their Sunday morning schedule. Anne Putnam coordinates this activity.

Elder Care or Shut-in Visitation

Volunteers are paired with elderly members who need company and assistance on a regular basis. These persons may live in a care facility or at home.

Phone-a-Friend

Members of our congregation volunteer to phone a short list of our members three times a year. The phone call is meant to be a checking in on prayer needs of our congregation, and making a friendly connection.

Send Some Sonshine

One Sunday of each month, volunteers pass out address labels of shut-in members in need of some cheer so that our members can send them a card.

Prayer Chains

Members on our prayer chain pray for the needs not only in our own church, but in our extended community. Every week, we add four of our families for prayers, just because they are in our church family. The prayer chain is done by email, and each prayer chain member keeps track of their own prayer list.

When more grace is required...

There are times in everyone’s life when God’s grace is needed more than any other gift. Christ Care volunteers are part of that grace — they help provide the generous spirit of love and caring that helps people get through the hardest times.
